Donation to Friends of Choral Music in Europe

The Finnish Senior Male Choir, Urisevat Ukot, donated € 500 to the Friends of Choral Music in Europe on 14 November 2015, 'to support your most valuable contribution in bringing choral music and singing closer to people'.

The donation was handed to Choral Friends President, Jeroen Schrijner, in Helsinki on the occasion of the General Assembly of the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat.

The senior choir expressed its wish that the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat give due attention also to ageing singers. This is in fact happening, with programmes being run both on national level (i.a. Koor en Stem, Flanders/Belgium) and on the European level.

Jeroen Schrijner thanked the Urinevat Ukot warmly for their generous contribution. He referred to the extensive and highly developed choral culture of Finland, which had brought the General Assembly to Finland. He also noted that choral singing is an important factor in people's lives up to a high age and this is an important factor in society in many European countries.

Vocal ensembles Singer Pur and Rajaton are Choral Friends' Ambassadors

Singer Pur became Ambassadors of Choral Friends, Pécs, July 2015
Rajaton became Ambassadors of Choral Friends, Pécs, July 2015

The  Friends of Choral Music in Europe are proud to announce that two outstanding vocal ensembles became ambassadors of the association in July 2015: they are

SINGER PUR, the German sextet with the somewhat unusual combination of one soprano, three tenors, a baritone and a bass, and

RAJATON, the Finnish sextet whose name expresses its programme: the voice is boundless.

We were very pleased to welcome both ensembles at the 19th EUROPA CANTAT festival in Pécs, Hungary, in the summer of 2015.

Both ensembles were delighted to support the Friends of the European Choral Association, which they regard as a highly volatile network in the European music world and beyond and an important factor in choral development across cultural and national borders.

Both ensembles have given workshops and masterclasses and given concerts at Europa Cantat events.

We feel honoured to have the support of such wonderful musicians!
