The European Choral Association - Europa Cantat is governed by a Board of 13 under the Presidency of Gábor Móczár (Hungary) which receives the support of different commissions and committees (such as the Music Commission and the Youth Committee) as well as the Regional centres and the Staff.

Board of Directors 2015 – 2018

President: Gábor Móczár (Hungary)

He organized the first International Monteverdi Choir Festival in 1996 with the Budapest Monteverdi Choir. In 2003 he joined KÓTA and nowadays he is the co-President.

Gábor worked on the EUROPA CANTAT XIX Festival in Pécs as head of Organising Committee and also as Managing Director. He is member of the IFCM Board representing ECA-EC.


1st Vice President: Carlo Pavese (Italy)

Carlo Pavese is a musician from Torino, where he studied piano, composition and conducting. After his graduation, he served as assistant conductor under G. Graden in Stockholm from 1998 to 2001. Nowadays he conducts the youth choir Coro G and the association of Piccoli Cantori di Torino (a children choir, a youth choir and a music school with more than 300 children, partner in the European cooperation project „Voix d´enfants/espace scénique“).


2nd Vice-President and chair of Music Commission: Jan Schumacher (Germany)

Currently he works as professor for choral conducting at the church music university in Rotenburg and is new elected music director of the Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main, where he conducts choir and orchestra of the universtiy. During the last years he has conducted many concerts and done workshops in Germany, whole Europe and abroad. 


3rd Vice President: Daphne Wassink (The Netherlands)

Daphne has always been really active in the international choral and music scene. In the artistic commission of the Nederlands Studenten Kamerkoor since 2008 and Board member and treasurer in 2010 and 2011, Daphne joined also the EMC Board from 2004 to 2010 leading the working group Youth. Member oft he ECA-EC Youth Committee, executive board member oft he IMC and treasurer and President of the Would Youth Choir.


Treasurer: Koenraad de Meulder (Belgium)

Since 1992 he works as general manager for Koor&Stem vtw, the national organisation for vocal music and choirs in Flanders. Koenraad De Meulder is an active member f the Hearts in Harmony network of the ECA-EC and he is one of the founding members of the project „A voice of our memory“. Furthermore, he is an active member of several policy-making bodies of the Flemish Community and the amateur arts sector.

Burak Onur Erdem (Turkey)

Burak is a choral conductor from Istanbul. Since 2010, he works as researcher in ITU Center for Advanced Studies in Music. He formed the choral ensemble Rezonans that performes throughut Turkey and abroad and in 2012 he founded the Choral Culture Association to create innovative projects for the Turkish choral music scene. He was also selected as the principle conductor of the Istanbul European Choir in 2013.


Martí Ferrer (Catalunya, Spain)

He is the conductor of the Escolania de Sant Feliu de Girona, manager of some choirs and choral organizations and co-funder of Ficta (music publisher company) and Notes in Cloud (developer of solutions for digial scores distribution).

Martí is a board members of Moviment Coral Català and director of the Mediterranean Office for Choral siniging. He is also the adviser on Choral Music and Live of the Catalan Ministry of Culture and board member of the Euro-Arab Youh Music Center in Cyprus.


Reijo Kekkonen (Finland)

After his graduation from the Sibelius Academy in 1991 ad Magister of Music (music education), he was  a professional singer in 35 choirs and ensembles altogether and conductor of school and youth choirs.

He works for SULASOL, the Finnish Amateur Musician´s Association, and he is member of the board and ExCom of Musica International


Victoria Liedbergius (Norway)

Victoria has studied singing at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels and the Hochschule für Music und Tanz in Köln. She has been a singer in the Wourld Youth Choir and chair of the ECA-EC Youth Committee between 2006 and 2012.

She is the administrative director of Ung i Kor, the Norwegian Children and Youth Choir Organisation, and the Norwegian National Youth Choir.


Loti Piris Niño (Belgium)

Loti has been the President of the choir „Le Madrigal du Brabant“ and since March 2013 is a member of the Board of FCWB – A Coeur Joie. Since 2009 she actively works as a volunteer for MUSIC FUND, an organizatin that works to create a synergy between culture, especially musica and development cooperation. She works at the European Commussion since 22 years. 


Patrick Secchiari (Switzerland)

A native of the Bernese Oberland choral conductor leads for over ten years to acclaimed choral concerts in Berne. He is also chief expert fort he Swiss Choral Festival, board member oft he SFEC, the swiss federation. 


Kaie Tanner (Estonia)

Kaie has participated in different courses, conducted several choirs and has been music teacher in Tallinn Kaarli Kindergarten and Musamari Music School. In 2001-2003 she worked as a member in Legislative Commission of Estonian Cultural Ministry.

She is Estonian representative in co-operation group of Nordic-Baltic Choir Festival since 2000, and is organiser of Tallinn International Choir Fesivals, summer seminars for Estonian choral conductors and other choral events in Estonia.


Jean-Claude Wilkens (France)

He studied music and mathematic at the Liège Royal Conservatory in Belgium and later in the Luxembourg Conservatory. His teaching career in secondary schools was diverted tot hat of cultural management, first as director in Jeunesses Musicales and then as General Secretary in the International Federation for Choral Music. He is presently Manager oft he French National choral organisation and its publishing house „A Coeur Joie“.
